Free Shuttles Begin Daily Service Friday, June 21
Hop on the new red trolley for quick access to downtown
The Town of Estes Park’s free shuttle system begins offering daily service Friday, June 21. Now in their eighth season, the shuttles provide convenient transportation for residents as well as visitors. Town Administrator Frank Lancaster reminds residents that the shuttles are an easy way to get around town, especially downtown, during the heavy traffic season. Shuttles are particularly useful in commuting to a downtown workplace. Lancaster explained, “Consider parking your car at the Fairgrounds Park-n-Ride or the Estes Park Visitor Center and board a shuttle to travel to dozens of stops around Estes Park.”
A map of the shuttle routes and times is available at www.estes.org/shuttles. The Estes Park Free Shuttle system operates daily from June 21 through September 8, and September 14-15. There are five routes, all of which bring riders to the core downtown area. The Silver Route services the Park-n-Ride at The Fairgrounds at Stanley Park, while the Blue Route services Big Thompson Avenue (U.S. Highway 34 east of downtown) and three new stops along Dry Gulch Road. The Red Route services Fall River Road (U.S. Highway 34 west of downtown) and the Brown Route services campgrounds and other establishments in outlying areas to the south and west of town. The new Gold Route serves the Elkhorn Avenue downtown with the new Town trolley.
The 2013 shuttle system offers 59 stops, longer hours of service for the Brown Route, and the new trolley running the Gold Route downtown. The shuttles feature real-time tracking. When service begins June 21, passengers can determine actual arrival times by visiting the Town’s website at www.estes.org/shuttles, choosing a link to track the shuttle, and entering a “stop code” for their location.
