Florence (Eleanor) Haas
Former Estes Park resident Florence (Eleanor) Haas peacefully passed into God’s loving embrace and entered her heavenly home on Sunday morning May 20, 2012. She was 87 years old. Florence Eleanor Munson was born September 2, 1924 in Arlington, NJ to Otto and Florence (Johnson) Munson.
She graduated from Andrew Jackson High School in St. Albans, NY. On June 1, 1947 she married Frederick A. Haas in St. Albans. Eleanor worked at Irving Trust Company on Wall Street as a Corporate Trust Clerk early in their marriage and then dedicated herself to being a wonderful full time homemaker once they began their family. Eleanor moved many times to support Fred’s career, living in Colorado, Idaho, Florida, Maryland, California and North Carolina.
In 1985 they retired to Estes Park, CO where Eleanor was a member of Presbyterian Community Church of the Rockies and a volunteer at Crossroads Ministry. In 2007, Eleanor and Fred moved to Arvada, CO to live with their daughter and son-in-law. She is survived by her husband Fred and three children: Robert Haas of Estes Park, Linnea Pilcher and her husband Bob of Lilburn, GA, Janet Mandeville and her husband Craig of Arvada, CO. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Alice, her brother Ted who was killed while serving as a pilot in World War II, and her daughter Karen Smith who died in June of 2011. Karen’s husband Scott resides in Flowery Branch, GA.
Eleanor had five grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Eleanor lived her life completely dedicated to her family and touched everyone who met her with her kind and gentle spirit. A family service was held at the Community Church.
