Woodland Heights Fire: UPDATED 5:28 pm

There will be a briefing for people part of the evacuation area at 7 pm at the Estes Park High School. This is for evacuees only.

5:28 pm: The fire is in containment. Crews continue to work on spot fires.

4:25 pm: Updated information – 16 structures burned. Fire size currently 20 acres. Evacuation area is a one mile circumference of the fire. Fire, named the Woodland Heights Fire,  is moving northeast.

3:21 pm: Areas near the fire are being evacuated. Fall River Lane area is on evacuation alert. The Elkhorn Lodge is being evacuated.

3:20 pm: Unconfirmed that 16 homes have burned.

3:05 pm: Skiorski S-64 Skycrane tanker helicopters are taking water from Lake Estes to help fight the fire. Fire is estimated at 20 acres.

2:25 pm: Traffic from Moraine Ave is being detoured onto Riverside Dr. and Marys Lake Rd.

2:15 pm: Fire crews appear to have a perimeter set up.

1:48 pm: helicopters picking up water from Marys Lake. Slurry bomber circling the area.


Road closures at the intersection of Hwy 36 and County Road 66


Firefighters are actively fighting a multiple structure fire that has broken out in the High Drive area of Estes Park near Rocky Mountain National Park.

Information is scarce at this point, but the fire appears to moving northeast away from Estes Park proper.

More information will follow as soon as it is available.
