Fire District And EPURA-Separate Votes By Far
To the Editor:
Since it is a challenge to get complicated information out to the public, it is always best, when possible, to keep ballots as simple as possible.
On November 3rd we have the opportunity to create an equitably financed, well equipped and well trained fire district, something that is critical to our health, safety and security.
For the best chance to see a fire district approved this time (the third try), the ballot should be as straightforward as possible and clear of other issues, especially ones that are complicated or controversial.
Therefore, the best thing would be not to schedule EPURA on the same ballot as the fire district.
The cost of a special election, if held, might be in the $8,000 range. That — or anything near it — is peanuts compared to the value of such a fire district to our Town and Valley.
To assure that both questions get due and careful consideration, resulting in the wisest decision by the voters, there really should be two separate votes.
