Fall River Trail Phase 4
Minor traffic interruptions are expected on the west end of the Highway 34 downtown bypass beginning Wednesday, Sept. 17 due to the construction of Phase 4 of the Fall River Trail, a 3,500-foot extension onto the existing trail that runs west along Elkhorn Avenue.
Cornerstone Concrete, Inc. (Bob Pavlish) was contracted to build the eight-foot wide concrete trail to extend the sidewalk west from the intersection of Valley Road and Highway 34. The trail, which will end near the bridge at Castle Mountain Lodge, will run along the north side of West Elkhorn Avenue and cross to the south side near the intersection of the downtown bypass and Fall River Road (Highway 34).
Much of this trail will be detached from the state highway system except on West Elkhorn where some of the trail will be attached with a curb/gutter.
The Town of Estes Park Public Works Department requests consideration and attention while driving in the work zone. If you have questions or comments please feel free to contact the PW Dept. at 577-3586, or the Project Engineer, Van Horn Engineering at 586-9388.
The Estes Park Trail Master Plan calls for the eventual continuance of this trail all the way to the Fall River Visitors Center of Rocky Mountain National Park on Highway 34.
