Exhibit Opening Becomes International Gathering At the Estes Park Museum

On Friday, July 16th the Estes Park Museum hosted a reception celebrating the opening of Kyoto University professor Kiyonori Kanasaka’s traveling exhibit In the Footsteps of Isabella Bird: Adventures in Twin Time Travel. Professor Kanasaka attended the exhibit opening as did the Consul General of Japan, Kazuaki Kubo who traveled from Denver for the occasion. Also present were Estes Park Mayor Bill Pinkham, Town Administrator Jacquie Halburnt, Director of Community Services Betty Kilsdonk and more than one hundred members of the public.

Mr. Kanasaka, a geography professor, shared his long-time interest in Isabella Bird’s world travels with the Museum through a series of public lectures and gallery tours. His enthusiasm and knowledge was greatly appreciated by the Museum visitors and staff. The U.S. premiere of In the Footsteps of Isabella Bird: Adventures in Twin Time Travel will remain on display in the Historic National Park Service Headquarters building on the Museum grounds now through January 16, 2011.
