EVFPD Welcomes New Fire Marshal Marc Robinson
Marc Robinson has joined the Estes Valley Fire Protection District (EVFPD) as our community’s new Fire Marshal. A Colorado native, Marc was most recently with the City of Thornton as a Senior Fire Protection Engineer. He has 15 years of experience in a variety of fire and life safety capacities including suppression, prevention and public education.
“My family and I are excited to be joining this wonderful community after many years of coming here to hike, flyfish and just enjoy the great atmosphere in town.” said Marc. “This is a great opportunity to help protect the life and property of all citizens and visitors to the Estes Valley. I’ve been impressed by the dedication of the volunteer firefighters and commend all of the time and training they devote.”
Given the dry conditions and fire danger, one of Marc’s first challenges is to help citizens and seasonal residents improve defensible space around their homes. As a new home owner in Estes Park himself, Marc will be looking at how FireWise his own home is too.
“A first step homeowners can take is contacting the EVFPD for help arranging a FireWise assessment.” Marc said. “It is also a good idea for all of us to take a look at maintenance items like clearing gutters and removing pine needles and other combustible debris at least 15 feet from our homes. We appreciate all of the proactive work home owners do to reduce fire hazards as there isn’t time to do that work when a wildfire threatens an area.”
