Estes Park Named A Top 10 Summer Weekend Escape
USA TODAY’s 10Best.com announced on Wednesday, May 28, 2014 that Estes Park was named one of the top ten Summer Weekend Escapes in a reader poll. In addition to 10Best.com, the winning destinations will also be featured in USA TODAY and on USAToday.com beginning Friday, May 30.
The article announcing the winners mentioned the mountain views, family attractions – such as zip lines, horseback riding and miniature golf – and Rocky Mountain National Park adventures as reasons for coming to Estes Park. Also featured was a picture of a statue at the YMCA of the Rockies Estes Park Center.
“While we know that Estes Park is a favorite weekend spot for Front Range residents,” said Brooke Burnham, Director of Communications & Public Relations for Visit Estes Park, “this poll shows that national travelers also understand what a special experience Estes Park is. These results are reassuring as Visit Estes Park and the community are working together to rebuild our economy by increasing awareness and guest visitation.”
According to 10Best.com, 20 nominees were chosen by an expert panel. Votes were then accepted by the public through an online poll over 28 days. Voters were allowed to vote once per day. The contest was promoted by USA TODAY, 10Best.com and by Visit Estes Park through social media posts and interactions.

Visit Estes Park formed in 2009 for the purpose of advertising, marketing and promoting tourism in the Estes Park area. Voters in the Local Marketing District area approved the formation of the organization and voted to collect a 2% sales tax on short term stays in lodging establishments and private homes when used as short term (less than 30 days) rental properties. A subsequent Intergovernmental Agreement between the Town of Estes Park and Larimer County, required by state law, confirmed the working agreement with the Local Marketing District.
