Estes Park’s Free Shuttles Offer Convenience For Residents And Visitors

By: Kate Rusch- Public Information Officer

Now in its seventh season, the Town of Estes Park’s free shuttle system provides a convenient transportation option for residents as well as visitors. Town Administrator Frank Lancaster reminds residents that the shuttles are an easy way to get around town, especially downtown, during the heavy traffic season. Shuttles are particularly useful in commuting to a downtown workplace. Lancaster explained, “Consider parking your car at the Fairgrounds Park-n-Ride or the Estes Park Visitor Center and board a shuttle to travel to dozens of stops around Estes Park.”

A map of the shuttle routes with stops and the schedule is available at www.estes.org/shuttles. Spanish- language maps are also available. The Estes Park Free Shuttle system operates daily from June 29 through September 9. There are four routes, all of which bring riders to the core downtown area. The Silver Route services the Park-n-Ride at The Fairgrounds at Stanley Park, while the Blue Route services Big Thompson Avenue (U.S. Highway 34 east of downtown). The Red Route services Fall River Road (U.S. Highway 34 west of downtown) and the Brown Route services campgrounds and other establishments in outlying areas to the south and west of town.

The 2012 shuttle system offers several significant changes. Increased hours and dates of service have been added to the season. Also new this year, the shuttles feature real-time tracking. Passengers can determine actual arrival times by visiting the Town’s website at www.estes.org/shuttles, choosing a link to track the shuttle, and entering a “stop code” for their location.
