Elaine Ford


Elaine Covington Thompson Ford, beloved wife of the Rev. Jonathan T. Ford, Sr., died on June 3, 2012. She was born in Baltimore, Maryland on March 12, 1941. Elaine and her husband were married on September 11, 1959. She graduated at the age of nineteen from the Union Memorial Hospital School of Nursing and worked as an R.N. for thirty-eight years, first in Maryland, then successively in Washington, D.C, California, Virginia, and Nebraska.

After she retired in 1998 she volunteered in the Gage County Nebraska Immunization Clinic for six years. Elaine loved to quilt and was a member of: the Nebraska State Quilt Guild, quilt guilds in Kearney and Beatrice, Nebraska, the Colorado Quilt Guild and the Estes Valley Quilt Guild.

She enjoyed playing bridge with her friends and belonged to a number of bridge groups in Estes Park. Elaine was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Edwin Covington Thompson and Mary Leona Ward Thompson, her older sister, Mary Lee Thompson McEntire, and her niece, Elaine Covington McEntire. Elaine is survived by her husband, Jack, and their children: Jennifer Paustenbaugh and her husband Rich of Stillwater, OK; Jonathan, Jr. and his wife, Dawn of Johns Creek, GA; Susannah Dillender and her husband Michael of Chesapeake, VA; and her grandchildren, Erik and Kirsten Paustenbaugh, Jonathan and Brittany Ford, Michael Dillender, Jr., and her nieces and nephews, Michael McEntire, Patty McEntire Fuller, Tracy McEntire Barkley, and Scott McEntire. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, June 8, at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of the Mountains Catholic Church in Estes Park.
