Duck Security Thanks Volunteers And Others For Successful Duck Race

To the Editor:

On behalf of the Estes Park Noon Rotary Club, I want to extend my appreciation to all 75 security volunteers that made the 2008 Rotary Duck Race such a success. We also had several folks handing out lunches from Sid Brown at the Big Horn. And great lunches they were!

In addition, there were five auxiliary police to help near the finish line. A welcome visit from the Estes Park Dive Team helped in rounding up the stray quackers. A big thanks to them!!
I couldn’t have completed the task without the help of my deputy, Jim Robertson, who next year will move up to the Sheriff position.

Grant at the Estes Angler went out of his way, once again, to insure that any volunteer in need of waders was properly fitted. He also provided waders to the folks that helped with the river clean up the week before.
We had great weather and an other terrific race. None of that would have been possible without all the volunteer security folks lining the Fall Fiver and assisting the little duckies to the finish line.
We were also helped by numerous people lining the river bank and urging the ducks on with sticks. As the river was quite low, we needed that extra effort to move the ducks downstream. A big thanks to all who helped this year!
