Dr. William Dale Hooper
William Dale Hooper was born January 28, 1927 in Pullman, WA. His parents were William & Grace (Gray) Hooper. He graduated from the University of Washington in 1948 and received his Medical Doctorate from Washington University in St. Louis, MO in 1952. On June 17, 1952 he married Anne Caroline Dodge. After his internship in Seattle, WA, and residency in New Britain, CT, he became a surgeon with the Veterans Administration. After a brief time in private practice (1966-1970 in St. Albans, VT) he continued his career of service, first with United Mine Workers Hospital in Williamson, WV, and then with the Veterans Administration in Beckley, WV, retiring in 1997. Dr. Hooper served his country in the United States Navy during World War II as an electrician and radio technician.
He was preceded in death by his wife Anne.
Survivors include his brother Gerald and Marilyn Hooper of Golden, CO, and three daughters, Elizabeth Anne Hooper of Manassas, VA, Joan Elaine Hooper and Aaron Richard Walters of Estes Park and Caroline Mae Tice and Randall Lee Tice of Mountain View, CA. He is also survived by grandchildren Gwendolyn, Roland and Benjamin Tice and Jordan Walters. He will be remembered by his family, friends and colleagues as a skilled and compassionate practitioner, a loving family man, and a selfless man of God.
A memorial service will be held Sunday April 21, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Good Samaritan’s Assisted Living Center’s Multi Purpose Room 1902 Ptarmigan Trail.
