Dorothy Bray, 97 years, died at home in Loveland, CO on Friday, March 1, 2013 after a very full life. Dorothy Myra Rees was born September 27, 1915 in Sydney, Australia to parents Walter Noel and Annetta (Roberts) Rees. She married American Major Albert Neil Bray in England on July 7, 1943. The couple lived in Savannah, GA and then Europe (where Neil served again in the Army) before settling in Davenport, IA where Dorothy lived for 25 years. Neil died in 1967. During WWII, Dorothy was involved in the production of Hurricane fighter planes at Hawker Aircraft. She moved to Estes Park, CO in 1978 where she managed Turquoise Trails, a Native American art shop, for six years and worked at Charles Eagle Plume’s for 10 years, especially enjoying locating items for her customers at both shops. She was a volunteer in Estes Park and a member of Estes Park Woman’s Club and St. Bartholomew’s Church.
Dorothy is survived by her children Annetta Bray-Wagner (Ron Wagner) of Minneapolis, MN; loving caretaker David Bray of Loveland, CO; and Maurice “Mo” Bray (Lisa Kovener) of Lafayette, CO; granddaughter Zoe Bray; half sister Patricia Rees Nicholls of north Wales and sister-in-law Marjorie Rees of south Wales. The family would like to thank the staff of Stepping Stones for their long time care of Dorothy. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Stepping Stones Adult Day Care of Loveland in care of Allnutt Funeral Service, 1302 Graves Avenue, Estes Park, CO 80517. A service will be held at St. Bartholomew’s Church at a later date.
