David Paul Laurienti

Obit-Laurienti-David Paul Laurienti, 43-year old resident of Estes Park was fatally wounded in a climbing accident on Sunday March 17, 2013 while climbing in RMNP. A Remembrance of his Life will be on Saturday, March 30, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at the Ruesch Auditorium at the YMCA of the Rockies. A Reception will follow on site immediately after. All are welcome to attend.

David was born on March 27, 1969 to James and Jackie in Denver, CO. David is survived by his wife Liesl, two children, Emma and Marlon, his parents and his three siblings, Ellen, Jim and Aaron.

David received a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Outdoor Recreation from the University of Northern Colorado. David married his college sweetheart Liesl on June 12, 1993 and moved to Estes Park in September 1994. David began work as an Outdoor Educator for Kent Mountain Adventure Center of Estes Park. The skills, life lessons and friendships he gained while working at KMAC would stay with him for his entire life. After guiding, David spent time working in the construction industry in Estes Park and also as owner/operator of custom home building and construction companies with local partners. Most recently David was employed as a draftsman at Cornerstone Engineering & Surveying of Estes Park.

David was an avid outdoorsman. His time spent guiding for KMAC left a hunger for being in the wilderness. Whether on a rock climbing route, a fishing trip, mountaineering, mountain biking, or simply enjoying the sunset around a campfire, he was at home in the backcountry. He shared this passion and zest for life with his wife, children and friends every chance he had.

Spending weekends fishing with his son, running with his daughter, making grill-fired pizzas with his wife, or lending a helping hand to his friends and community, David was always on the move and asking the most out of life. He led by example and left little question in your mind as to where you stood with him. His colorful pearls of wisdom and insight were only overshadowed by his incredibly infectious laugh and positive outlook. He will be greatly missed, for he was wholly loved.

A fund has been set up through The Bank of Estes Park under the Laurienti Education Fund and will be used to secure future educational needs for his children. Donations can be sent to:
