Community Service Announcement Regarding Loading Zones
Loading Zones along Elkhorn Avenue are painted red to assist both citizens and tourists in identifying their location as well as to designate that there is “no parking” allowed anytime in these areas unless otherwise signed. It has come to the attention of the Estes Park Police Department that delivery services are being affected due to cars being parked in these areas. Loading Zones are not seasonal and will be enforced according to the Model Traffic Code, Estes Park Appendix. This code states that a person is not in violation if they are engaged in actively loading or unloading. If vehicles are observed to be parked in these spaces with no active loading or unloading, allowing time only for items to be deposited inside buildings, then that vehicle may be ticketed or towed and these measures will be taken year round.
The Model Traffic Code, Estes Park Appendix states the following under the No-Parking Statute:
All loading zones – permitted loading/unloading from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., seven days a week. Open parking from 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. No overnight parking or camping in any Town owned parking lot or street unless posted or by permit only. No overnight parking of recreational vehicles in any Town owned parking lot. No parking during snow removal operations: Aspen, Birch, Columbine, Driftwood, and Elm Avenues, both sides of street. No parking at painted red curb locations. No parking at painted green curb unless otherwise posted. All marked shuttle stops July 1st through October 1st each year are Tow Away Zones.
