Huntington Beach, CA resident Charles Ramey died of a heart attack at Estes Park Medical Center on Tuesday, February 17, 2009. He was 64 years old. Charles Lee Ramey was born August 1, 1944 in Inglewood, CA. His parents were Clyde Fulton and Verna (Robertson) Ramey.
Chuck graduated from Lennox High School in Inglewood, CA and attended Long Beach State College. Chuck married Darlene Dunn on July 6, 1997 in Maui, HI. He was previously married to Joanne Malta. He worked 35 years for Rockwell International as Director of Operations overseeing the company’s entire telecommunications network. He also worked for Axcelerant as a Vice President and was instrumental in helping to establish the company.
Chuck was an avid racquetball player for 33 years, having recently won a Gold Medal in a national Master’s Tournament. He was President of the Huntington Beach Athletic Foundation and also the President of his step-daughter’s Field Hockey Booster Club. Chuck and Darlene traveled extensively and especially loved to cruise. Chuck was a big football fan and enjoyed fishing. He loved to cook and was an avid wine collector.
He is survived by his wife Darlene of Huntington Beach, CA, two sons, Christopher Scott Ramey and wife Sasha of Loveland, CO and Sean Michael Ramey of Loveland, CO, a step- daughter, Margaux Mae Dunn of Massachusetts, a granddaughter, Shayanne Ramey of Loveland, CO, a brother, Kenneth Ramey and wife Judy of Lancaster, CA. He was preceded in death by a son, Brett Matthew Ramey and his parents.
Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at Randy Higbee Gallery in Costa Mesa, CA on February 28th at 1 p.m.
The family requests in lieu of flowers that donations be made to National Heart Association in Chuck’s name.
