Estes Park resident Bobbie McHenry died Saturday, November 20, 2010 at the Estes Park Medical Center. Roberta May Mohr was born May 31, 1924 in Davenport, IA. Her parents were Robert & Hilda (Meyer) Mohr. Bobbie graduated from Davenport High School and received a High School Normal Training Certificate from the state of Iowa. She later received her Bachelor’s degree at Iowa State University, serving her dietetic internship at Cook County Hospital in Chicago, IL. She received a Master’s degree from the University of Iowa. On August 12, 1950 she married W. Dennis McHenry in Davenport. She taught for three years in a one room country schoolhouse in Scott County. She later taught for two years at an Episcopal parochial school in Los Angeles, CA . She returned to Iowa and was Chief Dietitian at St. Luke’s Hospital in Davenport and later a nutritional consultant with the Iowa State Department of Health.

In 1983, she retired and she and Dennis moved to Estes Park, CO after visiting there since 1963. In Estes Park, Bobbie was a member of St. Francis Anglican Church, nutritionist at the senior center, member and past president of the Estes Park Woman’s Club, President of the Colorado Federation of Womens’ Clubs, member of the Estes Valley Model Railroad Club, and the Estes Valley Quilt Club. She was also active in the Holiday House and Scottish Festival. She was a member of Chi Omega Sorority, the Iowa Dietician Association, the Mississippi Valley Dietetic Association and a 50 year member of the American Dietetic Association. She was recognized as Citizen of the Year by the Estes Park Lions Club, for outstanding service to the community by AARP, and for her contribution to the Meals on Wheels program by the Rotary Club of Estes Park.

Mrs. McHenry is survived by her husband Dennis of Estes Park. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers.

A Funeral Mass will take place Tuesday December 7, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Church.
