Attend Estes Park’s First Solar And Green Home Tour

Have you ever wondered….how does solar energy work? What do photovoltaic cells look like? How is solar energy stored? Would solar energy be a consideration for my home or business? If so, you won’t want to miss Estes Park’s first annual Solar and Green Home Tour, sponsored by T.W. Beck Architects.

It is part of the world’s largest grassroots solar event – the American Solar Energy Society’s (ASES) National Solar Tour. More than 150,000 people in 3,000 communities across the U.S., including twelve Colorado communities, will participate in this annual “open-house” event to learn how neighbors are using solar energy and energy efficiency to reduce monthly utility bills and help tackle climate change – and how you can, too.

The Estes Park Solar and Green Home Tour will feature several homes that demonstrate varied applications of solar energy-passive, active, site built during construction and retrofitted systems. One home is totally off the grid and electrically self-sufficient. Also see examples and learn about other energy efficient products and technologies, green building practices and environmentally friendly building materials.

Local architect, Thomas Beck, who has practiced architecture in Colorado for more than 25 years, chose to sponsor the Estes Park Solar Tour as part of his commitment to renewable energy and sustainable design-a commitment that was born during his college days and the 1974 Arab oil embargo. He has developed substantial expertise in the field and incorporates renewable energy and green technologies into both his residential and commercial architectural designs. He also offers energy audits and consultation on solar and other renewable energy applications.

The Estes Park Solar and Green Home Tour is scheduled for Saturday, October 3rd from 10:00 a.m.until 3:00 p.m. (last admission at 3 p.m.), self-scheduled during these hours. Tickets are $10.00 and include admission to all homes on the tour, a driving map and guide, and educational literature including a copy of “Get Started 2010” – an official publication of the ASES that will help you learn more about solar energy and how it can be incorporated into your own home or business. Come learn what the sun can do for you-and our planet! Watch for more details-coming soon. For more information call 970-586-3913 or visit www.twbeckarchitects.com.
