Ardis “Dee” Murray, 83, formerly of Estes Park, made her final journey in life on Wednesday April 16, 2014, at the 9th Street Chautauqua Guest Home in Charles City, IA.

A memorial service for Dee Murray was held on Saturday April 19, 2014 at the Hauser Funeral Home in Charles City, IA. Pastor Forest Cornelius of First Congregational Church officiated.

Ardis Ann Carter Murray was born September 20, 1930, in Sloan, IA, the daughter of Dewey and Ila (Stephens) Carter. She graduated from high school in Sioux City, IA in 1948. On December 18, 1958, she was united in marriage to Ned Murray, in Lincoln, NE. They spent most of their lives in Estes Park, CO, where they owned and operated Heidi House and the Olympus Lodge. Dee worked at Hidden Valley Ski Resort, in the kitchen, and Dee also worked at First National Bank. She was a member of the First Congregational Church and Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, as a proud member, as well. Dee liked to sew, knit, bake, read, and have lunch out/dinner theater dates with her “girlfriends.” Family was always very important to Dee, and she looked forward to sharing life with them, especially her grand daughter, Harlie.

Living family members include four children, Cindy (Gene) LaBounty of Charles City, IA, Mike (Kathy) Murray of Erie, CO, Pat (Nicki) Murray of Estes Park, CO and Sean (Theresa) Murray also of Estes Park, CO; four grandchildren, Lori Estlund of Charles City, IA, Kim Swanstrom of Charles City, IA, Bryan Murray of Erie, CO, and Harlie Murray of Estes Park, CO; and two great grandchildren, Bryant Estlund and Mandy Swanstrom, both of Charles City, IA.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ned Murray on November 18, 1998, and two grandsons, Brent and Eric Murray.

A family service is scheduled for a later date.
