April 3 Election Will Determine Four Seats On Town Board Of Trustees

The Town of Estes Park is preparing for an election for four seats on the Board of Trustees, including that of the Mayor. In the April 3 mail ballot-only election, voters will determine who will occupy seats currently held by Mayor Bill Pinkham and Trustees Chuck Levine, John Ericson and Jerry Miller. Chuck Levine is term-limited, while the other three incumbents are eligible to run for an additional four-year term.

For individuals who are interested in learning more about becoming a Town Trustee, the Town Clerk will hold a candidate information forum on Monday, February 13 at 6 p.m. in the Town Board Room of Town Hall, located at 170 MacGregor Avenue. This forum will include a review of the candidate packet information, including a review of candidate information, nomination instructions, the nomination petition, Fair Campaign Practices Act Instructions, expectations of time commitment and the role of a Board member.

Candidate packets may be acquired at the Town Clerk’s office, Room 130 of Town Hall on or after February 13 and nomination petitions may be circulated beginning the same day. Every registered elector 18 years of age or older may be a candidate and hold office if they have resided inside Town limits for at least 12 consecutive months immediately preceding April 3, 2012. The petition must be signed by at least 10 registered electors who reside inside Town Limits. The filing deadline for nomination petitions is March 2 at 5 p.m.

Additional important dates:

January 4: Applications available at the Town Clerk’s office for Absent Voter/Mail Ballot Address Change – for voters who will be out of town and need the mail ballot forwarded to a different address. March 5: Last day to register to vote; visit March 12: First day mail ballots will be mailed to all active voters within the Town limits of Estes Park.

March 14: Last day to file a Write-In Candidate Affidavit with the Town Clerk’s office. March 27: Last day to request a mail ballot that needs to be forwarded to a different address. April 3: Election Day. Ballot drop-off locations open 7 a.m. -7 p.m; ballots must be received by 7 p.m. to be counted. April 24: Swearing-in of newly elected Town Trustees and Mayor at the Town Board Meeting.
