Jerry W. Miller
Jerry first attended school in Boulder and then in Estes Park beginning with seventh grade until he graduated from Estes Park High School in 1967. He graduated from University of Colorado with a Bachelor of Architecture in 1973.
He was the Boulder County Architect early in his career. In 1983, he started his own architectural firm, J.W. Miller Architecture Inc. in Longmont focusing on commercial, multi-family projects, and land planning along the Colorado Front Range. His projects included the Prudential Building, the Boulder County Fairgrounds Campus (for which he won an award), Mill Village, Guaranty Bank Building, Village Place Senior Housing plus many other collaborations.
He was one of the founders of the Longmont Area Economic Council and was on the Longmont Board of Adjustment and Planning Commission for several years during his career.
In 2002, Jerry and Millie moved to Estes Park as full-time residents. They quickly became very involved in the community. Jerry was elected as a Town Trustee in 2008. He was a board member of the Estes Park Museum Friends and Foundation and Estes Area Lodging Association. He was also a member of the Estes Park Economic Development Task Force and the Estes Park Lions Club. He served on numerous ad hoc Town committees.
Jerry dearly loved Estes Park and always considered it “home.” His many loves included science fiction, cooking, history, dragons, hiking, photography, astronomy, local politics and his greatest joy — gathering with his family and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Genevieve Hall Miller and Joseph B. Miller. He is survived by his wife, Millie, his step-daughter Robin Davis and her husband, Jay; his step-daughter, Jennie Charnisky and grandson Joshua O’Gorman; and his brother, W. Jack Calver.
