Public Opinion Sought On Stanley Hotel Pavilion Proposal At Dec. 6 Meeting

The Town of Estes Park is seeking public input on a development proposal submitted by the Stanley Hotel to build an events venue on hotel grounds. The venue is intended to accommodate weddings and other special events.

The development application will be reviewed by the Stanley Historic District Technical Review Committee on Dec. 6 at 6 p.m. in the Town Board Room of Town Hall. The public is encouraged to attend and comment.

The public may review the application available at www.estes.org/currentapplications and in the Community Development Department in Room 230 of Town Hall, 170 MacGregor Ave. Comments can be sent to Community Development Director Alison Chilcott via email to achilcott@estes.org , by delivery to Room 230 of Town Hall, or fax 97-586-0249.

The Stanley Historic District was created to preserve the integrity of the location, design and visual character, and to ensure that development does not destroy the essential historic character of the Stanley Hotel Complex. The Stanley Historic District Master Plan, along with a development agreement between the Town and the Stanley Hotel owner provide a framework for the design, review and approval process, and development of the historic property. This includes reviews by the technical review committee as well as an architectural review by a committee of two professional architects. Once all approvals are granted and a building permit is received, construction may begin.
