CrossFit Estes Park Hosting Fundraiser For Joel York
Anyone who knows Joel York, knows a great guy. A friend, CrossFit coach, martial artist, photographer; smart, friendly and a hard worker. Always willing to help, strangers are friends in no time. More talent in his left pinky than most of us have in our entire body.
Two years ago, Joel York found out he had cancer. Without hesitation he stepped up and took on the fight with his characteristic enthusiasm and positive attitude.
If you have had Joel as a trainer during a WOD (Workout Of the Day) at CrossFit Estes Park you know the drill: “on your deadlift set up, do the transformer move (visualize Joel moving like Optimus Prime going from truck mode to autobot)” in your power clean elbows go ‘BOP!’ (now he moves his elbows from the dip position to the rack postion, only problem is he did it so fast, no one is quite sure they saw how he did it). Then of course there are his burpees and pull-ups, we won’t even get into them…
Cool, Pepsi Challenge, right?
Yup, thats Joel for you.
One of Joel’s favorite quotatioins is “I myself am made entirely of flaws, stitched together with good intentions.” This also is Joel. Not a mean bone in his body, always willing to help with the best of intentions. Lets show Joel our good intentions by supporting his Fundraiser WOD this weekend.
This coming Saturday, November 17th CrossFit Estes Park will be having a fundraiser WOD to help raise funds for Joel’s cancer fighting fund. He is doing his part with his constant positive attitude and living with this cancer every day, we can help him by doing our part and participating this Saturday!
The WOD will be set so that anyone can do it with scales for any fitness level of anyone walking into our gym! This WOD is is for everyone in the community to show their support for Joel! You don’t have to be a gym member to partipate!
The gym will be open all day from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. with group workouts set for 6, 7 and 10:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. If you can’t make it in during those times come in any other time throughout the day and Eric Adams will assist you in the WOD. If you can’t make it in for the WOD then you can still help!
We are asking for donations from our community, give what you can. If you can’t workout then donate! For every person who participates in the WOD the Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory will match your donation! Thier challenge then will DOUBLE your money! Its a great way to help out Joel!
