Reach Out To Help Your Community Donate To Blue Santa Nov. 16th – Dec. 9th
Every holiday season, the Blue Santa program collects non-perishable food, gifts and hygiene products for disabled, shut-in and elderly community members that need a little extra holiday cheer. Blue Santa is sponsored by the Town of Estes Park’s Police Department Auxiliary to assist individuals who are elderly, shut-in or disabled, alone, and live in the Town of Estes Park. It is anticipated that Blue Santa will assist 60 people this year, but it’s not too late to nominate someone in need of assistance. To nominate someone who fits this description and needs these items, please contact Amanda Nagl, Community Services Manager at the Estes Park Police Department, at 970-577-3822 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
Blue Santa donations will be accepted from Nov. 16 until Dec. 9 at the following locations: The Estes Park Senior Center, The Estes Park Visitor Center, Safeway, Bank of Estes Park, Boulder Valley Credit Union, Bank of Colorado, YMCA of the Rockies, The Country Supermarket, Estes Valley Library, Med X, B&B Food Mart, Rocky Mountain Athletic Club, Rocky Mountain National Park, and Town Hall. Many of these locations will collect monetary donations so the Police Auxiliary can purchase food and gifts. Every penny donated will be redistributed in this way. Deliveries will be made on December 15 to all Blue Santa recipients.
After receiving Blue Santa assistance, one recipient commented, “Thank you for bringing Christmas to me this year.” Others expressed their gratitude and also stated that they enjoyed the visit from staff and volunteers on delivery day. For some, it is rare to have visitors at all – spending even a little time with a new friend can really brighten the season.
