Charlene Diane Kaatz
Charlene Diane Kaatz died peacefully at her home in Boulder, CO on August 6, 2012 with her sister by her side. After a diagnosis of cancer in 2008, she continued to live life to its fullest.
Charlene was born in St. Joseph, Michigan to Arthur and Margaret Kaatz. After graduating from Michigan State University, she moved to Estes Park, CO. She eventually made her home in Allenspark in a lovely cabin in the woods.
Char studied at the Rudolph Steiner College in Fair Oaks, CA and earned her Waldorf Teaching Certification. She moved to Boulder, CO and taught at the Shepherd Valley Waldorf School in Niwot, CO. After teaching her class from 1st-8th grade, she went back to school in England to further her Waldorf education.
Char loved the mountains and never gave up her enjoyment of music, reading, gardening and being outdoors. Char spent time traveling the world visiting most continents with her favorite city being Paris. Char was a treasured friend, a world traveler, a gifted teacher and a life adventurer. She will be dearly missed by friends and family and will be remembered as one who lived life to the fullest.
Charlene was preceded in death by both parents. She is survived by brothers Wayne Kaatz (Denise) of Longmont, CO and Kenny Kaatz of Kalamazoo, MI, as well as sister Eileen Kaatz Hebert (Brian) of Rockport, ME and nephews Owen, Sam and Aidan.
A Celebration of Life service was held Sunday, August 12 at Lionsgate – Gatehouse in Lafayette, CO.
