Senior Pro Rodeo At The Fairgrounds Aug. 20th & 21st
Senior cowboys don’t go out to pasture. They’ll compete at the Senior Pro Rodeo held at the Fairgrounds at Stanley Park on August 20 and 21, 2011. Pre-rodeo entertainment begins at 7 p.m. and the rodeo starts at 7:30 p.m.
Sponsored by the National Senior Pro Rodeo Association (NSPRA), the rodeo allows cowboys and cowgirls age 40 and older to compete in nine sanctioned events: bareback, bull riding, calf roping, ladies barrel racing, ladies breakaway roping, ribbon roping, saddle bronc, steer wrestling, and team roping. Except for the ladies’ breakaway, events are broken into separate age groups.
If there are too many contestants for the evening rodeo, the others compete, in what’s called “slack,” on Saturday morning at 9 a.m.
Purchase tickets through the fairgrounds office or at the gate. General admission is $12; 8 and under free. Box Seats are $20. For more information, contact Special Events at 970-586-6104.
