Theresia Hutwagner of Estes Park, CO, died at Mc Kee Medical Center in Loveland on Wednesday August 3, 2011. She was 91 years old. Theresia Kugler was born May 23, 1920 in Oreshatz, Yugoslavia. Her parents were Michael and Kathrina (Zuber) Kugler. On January 27, 1941 she married Stefan Hutwagner in Oreshatz. Soon after, her father was drafted into the German army and spent seven years, mostly in Siberia, separated from his family.
Theresia left Coatia with her family in a horse drawn wagon traveling through Hungary to Austria arriving in the Spring of 1945 where they lived for 10 years and were re-united with her family. The family then immigrated to Milwaukee, WI in 1956 by way of New York aboard the Queen Elizabeth II. The couple lived in Milwaukee for 42 years working at the Elks Lodge and A&P Bakery. Theresia was from a farming family and had been a seamstress. In 1998 they retired to Estes Park where they were members of Our Lady of the Mountains Catholic Church. Stefan died June 7, 1999. Theresia is survived by her daughter Hilde Frank and her husband Rudy of Estes Park, two grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
A Mass of the Christian Burial was celebrated on Saturday August 6, 2011 at Our Lady of the Mountains Catholic Church in Estes Park. Memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of the Mountains Church in care of Allnutt Funeral Service 1302 Graves Avenue Estes Park, CO 80517.
