2nd Annual Stakeholder Event a Success
On April 27th, over 100 stakeholders joined the Estes Park Local Marketing District board and staff in celebrating its first full year. Strategic partners, Hill Aevium, Turner PR, and Guest Research presented 2010 successes, new 2011 advertising media and the results of a very fruitful year-long visitor survey. Thanks for helping to make this annual event such a success!
PR Opportunities for Your Business
Fall Travel: While we are thinking about summer, journalists are already thinking about what will be included in publications for fall. To maximize Estes Park’s opportunity for media coverage, Turner PR needs information on fall foliage hot spots, scenic drives, package deals (not isolated to hotels), new happenings and any other quirky things that happen during the fall season. Some ideas of what the team is looking for are things like elk-themed packages that would tie into Elk Fest, stargazing packages, harvest activities, Halloween happenings, fall foliage tours (i.e. hiking and photography).
Facebook Opportunities: We are preparing to launch a Facebook “Rooftop Rodeo Contest Week.” We have secured the grand prize including lodging, Rooftop Rodeo tickets for two, “Behind the Chutes” tour, exclusive dinner with the Rodeo Cowboys, and Rodeo memorabilia. In addition, we are looking to promote packages offered during Rodeo week. These packages can be as simple as lodging for two, coupled with tickets to the Rooftop Rodeo. You can pre-purchase tickets from the Events office at the fairgrounds. The packages would need to be available during the week of Rodeo, July 12 – 17th, 2011.

Colorado Parent magazine readers have once again voted Estes Park as “Favorite Colorado Road Trip” in the magazine’s annual poll.
Estes Park’s Jazz Fest and Art Walk received coverage from The Chicago Tribune on-line as well as in the Sunday, March 20th issue. This was a direct result from the PR efforts of Suzy Blackhurst and Turner PR.
Shape Magazine’s Great Escapes column highlighted Estes Park’s Walter Tishma Way trekking trip. The 42-mile tour taking participants from one lodging establishment to another on a five night trek was featured as a great way to see Rocky Mountain National Park. Shape Magazine has a circulation of 1,650,752. Wow!
Coming to Estes Park in June: The 17th Annual Bicycle Tour of Colorado expects 1,500 cyclists from across the U.S. to participate in the 460+ mile tour. The seven day tour runs from June 19-25 and will begin the journey in Estes Park on June 19th. Let’s give the cyclists a warm Estes Park welcome!
