Lois Hanson of Estes Park, CO died Sunday March 13, 2011 at Medical Center of the Rockies in Loveland. She was nearly 91years old. Lois H. Olsen was born April 3, 1920 in Austin, NV. Her parents were Charles & Daisy (Dunsden) Olsen. She attended Loma Linda, CA University School of Nursing. On April 23, 1942 she married Dr. Russell Hanson in Glendale, CA. During their marriage the couple traveled as missionaries to various places including Mexico, and the African Continent.
After living in Boulder, CO for 30 years they moved to Estes Park in 1975 where they helped to establish the Seventh-Day Adventist Church. Russell died July 26, 1988 and Lois continued her work at the Church. In Estes Park she also served on the Crossroads Ministry Board for 20 years and was a volunteer at Hospice of the Estes Valley and The American Red Cross.
Lois is survived by her children Mrs. Jo Ellen Bustos of Fort Collins, CO; Dr. Russell Hanson (Doris) of Broomfield, CO; Dr. Stanley Hanson (Sharon) of Denver, CO; Dr. Keith Hanson (Zulia) of Denver, CO; and Dr. James Ballard (Kathie) of Klamath Falls, Oregon. She is also survived by 6 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. A funeral service will be held this Saturday March 19, 2011 at 3:30 p.m. at the Seventh-Day Adventist Church in Estes Park.
