Rare Gold Coin To Be Auctioned To Highest Bidder By Local Salvation Army

The Estes Park Salvation Army board of directors was delighted to receive a gold coin in one of its red kettles during the 2009 Christmas fund raising effort. The coin is a ten dollar U.S. issued Liberty/Eagle gold coin dated 1851. Appraisers from the following businesses have appraised the coin as of January 5, 2010:
Boulder County Coins and Collectibles     $610
Tebo Coin Company-$550
Fall River Jewelry and Antiques-$525
The EP Salvation Army board is auctioning the coin to the highest bidder in a sealed bid auction. Bids must be postmarked no later than February 15, 2010. The minimum bid must be no less than $550.00. Persons may make arrangements to view the coin by contacting Randy Skeie at 970-586-8769. The individual with the winning bid will be contacted by phone or mail by February 20, 2010. Send your bid (including name, address, phone number, dollar amount) to:
Salvation Army
P.O. Box 172
Estes Park, CO 80517
One hundred percent of the proceeds from the sale of this coin will be used to help Estes Valley residents in need.
Editors note: In last weeks’ thank you letter for the Red Kettle campaign, organizers inadvertantly left out thanks to organization Harvest House for Women and bell ringers Lee Reider and Laurie Skeie-Huesers.
