CDOT To Hold Public Meeting For Upcoming Bridge Replacement Project On US 34 Near Estes Park
On Thursday, February 26th, the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) will host a public meeting regarding a bridge replacement project on US 34 in the Big Thompson Canyon between milepost 65.4 and 66.3 just east of Estes Park. The meeting will be held from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the Municipal Building Facilities for the Town of Estes Park located at 170 MacGregor Avenue. The meeting will be held in the Board Room.
“Within the next year, we will begin a bridge replacement project on US 34 in the Big Thompson Canyon that will require us to completely close the highway for up to 30 days to allow us to construct the new bridges,” CDOT Resident Engineer Scott Ellis. “The meeting will give the public an opportunity to gather information about the project schedule, delays and detour routes and allow them to ask questions or raise concerns about the project.”
The meeting will begin with a presentation by CDOT at 5:30 p.m., which will highlight the project details, purpose of the project, a tentative schedule and information regarding the closure and possible detour routes. Following the presentation, CDOT staff will be available to answer any questions.
“We strongly encourage residents to attend the meeting on Thursday so they can understand the project and the possible impacts it could bring to motorists,” added Ellis. “It will be a great opportunity to ask questions so we can get any issues resolved before the project begins this fall or next spring.”
Since the public meeting is being held months ahead of when the project will begin, CDOT will release information as soon as a contractor is selected and a start date has been determined.
