Estes Park resident Elizabeth Olson died at the Estes Park Medical Center Sunday July 28, 2013. She was 86 years old. Elizabeth Ballin was born March 17, 1927 in La Crosse, WI where she loved growing up on the Mississippi River.
Her parents were Louis and Agnes Ballin. Elizabeth attended La Crosse Schools and earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Education from La Crosse State College. She taught for many years in the La Crosse School District. Liz was a member of Toastmistresses in La Crosse. Elizabeth raised five children in La Crescent, MN.
On May 23, 1976 she married Aldon Olson and the couple resided in Upham, ND where Elizabeth was a substitute teacher. In 1982 they moved to Estes Park, CO and owned and operated the Downtowner Motel / Silver Moon Inn. She attended the former Church of God in Estes Park.
She is survived by her husband Aldon of Estes Park, and his two daughters Denise and Deborah and their families of ND, a son William Dissmore and his wife MinMin of Conifer, CO, three daughters Ellen Peterson and her husband Glen of Bay City, MI, Edee Nuetzel of Estes Park and Vicki Daum living in France; a sister Victoria Sayles in La Crosse; and grandsons Aaron, Andrew and Alan. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Robert Ballin, son Kenneth Dissmore and a grandson Eric Wollersheim.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, August 12, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Allnutt Funeral Service 1302 Graves Avenue in Estes Park.
