THANK YOU for writing this, to go along with your great pictures. It can be difficult to be non-judgemental when seeing the 'uneducated', approaching our wildlife, and worse yet, interfering with their very survival. Ashamedly, I admit I have thought that some get 'what they deserve' when they find themselves being attacked by the "nice gentle, beautiful, deer, elk etc. We just need to keep educating the unknowing.

Evidently, the person or persons who came up with this bright idea, have no concept of what this will do this summer. Traffic will be backed up for miles trying to get through town. Why, you ask? Elkhorn traffic going east have one lane. When the light turns green, all the pedestrians will flood the intersection, all right turning cars wanting to go onto Moraine will be held up until the intersection is clear (guess when that will be?). Now all the east bound traffic will be at a standstill until all right turning traffic can make their turns. Now for the west bound traffic: Again, the right turning traffic wanting to go up Big Horn Drive will have the same problem, pedestrians walking with the light until it turns red. Meanwhile, all the west bound through traffic will back up for several light changes. I for one will hope that it isn't backed up past the bypass so I can get west of town. Hopefully, it won't be backed up past the bypass going east so I can get home from the west side. Who comes up with these bright ideas?

Since I do not live in Estes Park any longer, I'm not really sure which parking lot you are speaking of. However, I do want to say I totally, wholeheartedly agree with your letter. We all need to pitch in & help our world, no matter how small of an inconvenience one may have to suffer from time to time. We all have to make exceptions; however some people just refuse to be inconvenienced. Weigh the minor inconvenience with the help that is being done, and hands down, I know which should take precidence (and yes, I know that is spelled wrong). I hope everyone has a great day and never forgets to look into the sky, see those beautiful mountains and count your blessings every day, not nit-pik the little things. There are plenty of hugh, big things-much much bigger things-- we need to be more concerned about.

Realistically, it was a landslide vote to abolish EPURA. Unfortunately, a Judge must now render a decision on the legality of the vote, since it has happened. If in fact, the Judge rules that the vote and abolishment is legal then EPURA just goes away. If the Judge rules it was illegal for the voters to abolish EPURA and that they did not have the right or authority to do so then the Mayor and Trustees are faced with a difficult situation. This is not an EPURA decision, this is a Town of Estes Park decision. The majority of the Trustees (6 out of 7) supported EPURA. It would take a great act of courage to stay true to their statements and beliefs, as professed. They must choose what they determine is in the best interest of all the citizens; those that voted, those that didn't and even those that couldn't but live here. I for one will watch the actions of the Board of Trustees and Mayor to see if they have the fortitude of conviction or if they choose the way of the wind. Those will be the ones that gain my respect.

From time to time, kindred spirits enter our lives. Some for only a very brief while, but it is those that have the deepest impact. They are here to remind us that unconditional love, compassion, curiosity, playfulness, feeling needed and a host of other intangible things are more valuable than what we have created in our shallow, material world.

Chippewa was certainly an enlightened being. Cuteness only goes so far. It was his inner strength to fight against the odds and his ability to enjoy and explore all that life offers us that won the hearts of those who knew him and read about him.

As for me, I will miss him, but know that his legacy will live on--that is, to fight a valiant fight, even when we feel we have been dealt a poor hand of cards. Take the time out of our hectic, sometimes unfulfilled existences to deeply breathe the air, relish the warm sunshine on our face, smell the flowers and learn to appreciate and express gratefullness for the many blessings we have in our lives. Cherish love we feel in its many forms, never take it for granted, and if and when it leaves this world, to know it shall always remain in our heart and spirit.

Safe Journeys, Chip. Namaste.

When do we get to see the Fire Dept budget, and what the actual expenses have been for the dept for the last several years? I appreciate the service that our volunteer fire dept provides, and respect those members for their participation. But, it certainly seems that we are being asked to provide a great sum of funds for the operation of a "volunteer" dept. Where has all the $$ been spent, and who is to be held accountable in the future.

I am so glad the Transition Initiative is starting in Estes Park. I have seen the beginnings of it in Texas and it is truly a grass-roots effort that has wide ranging benefits to individuals as well as communities. Although I cannot be part of the discussion this evening, I look forward to participating in the future. Please keep me on you mailing list and I would like to know what transpires at the meeting.

Thank you.

I continue to really enjoy the updates from the EPN on Baby Chip. I is just great to see he is doing so well after such a rough start. Thanks to Dr. "C" for a job well done. Needless to say without her and her supportive, loving staff Chip would not be with us.
