15 Years Of The Coolest Cars-15 Years Of Benefiting The Estes Park Museum

cool-car-showWhat is your coolest memory of the “coolest” car you ever owned or even saw? Museums preserve and present the past in exhibits inside a building where we view familiar items or those preserved in our memory through the stories of our parents or grandparents. Go OUTSIDE on July 4th in Bond Park and be prepared to step back in time and recall with fond memories those automobiles that caught your fancy as they cruised through your home town, or the ones your Grandfather drove in the infancy of the car industry, or perhaps one that you used to own.

One of the largest and most important fundraisers for the Estes Park Museum Friends & Foundation, Inc. is “The Coolest Car Show in Colorado” and YOUR attendance at this event is greatly appreciated! The Friends are pleased to continue this tradition and offer to all a wonderful time viewing classic cars right here in Estes Park every 4th of July.

This year’s theme, History of Wheels, came from the chairman of the car show committee, the late Jerry Miller. “He will be sorely missed as a friend, a member of the EPMF&F board and for his vision which was full of excitement and innovation for this fundraiser,” said Mike Oline, past President and current Friends’ board member. Many of us live “life in the fast lane” and the new event coordinators, Jena Jones and Audrey Blessings of Full-Circle Events, added to the theme; “History of Wheels: Life in the PAST Lane.”

Come to Bond Park on July 4th when the gates open at 9AM to enjoy the day’s events. Classic cars, hot rods, sport cars, foreign and even electric cars to fire engines will all be on display. Once again delicious food is available to purchase and lots of fun for the kids!

The Awards Ceremony and trophy presentation will begin at 2 p.m. Sue Spooner, past member of the Friends and the Friends’ Board, exhibitor in the Coolest Car Show, and British sports car enthusiast will be honored by the Estes Park Car Club. A Special Trophy will be awarded to the “Best British Motor Car” in memory of Sue. What a fitting honor for a charming, multi-faceted lady; she is greatly missed.

More than 120 cars are expected to take part in the exhibition. “The exhibitors tell us this is one of the most successful car shows because the Friends treat them so well and it is “cool” in the mountains,” says Marty Casey, chair of the car show committee. “Treating them well takes a big bite out of our budget so we depend on local business sponsors and our community to continue the great support we have received in the past. Through the generosity of local businesses and merchants, the exhibitors have an opportunity of winning some great prizes. This year’s exhibitor Grand Prize is two nights at the Black Canyon Inn and a dinner from Twin Owls’ Steakhouse. We wish to also thank the Donut Haus, Fall River Antiques, Coins & Jewelry, Cables, Starbucks, Casa Grande Restaurant, Noodles & Co., The Olive Garden and Maine Street Car Wash in Longmont for their generous donations.”

Two of the new sponsors are: “Gold” sponsor, Mary’s Lake Lodge and “Silver” sponsor, State Farm (Susan Fereday). Many other local sponsors include: The Ore Cart, “iii” Image Inhancement, Inc., Brownfields, 1st Colorado Realty (Mike Richardson), Sweet Basilico, Rocky Mountain Chocolate, Farmers Insurance, Bank of Colorado, Mama Rose’s/Poppy’s Restaurant, Bank of Estes Park, Insurance Associates, US Bank, Smokin’ Dave’s Restaurants, Med X, EP News, Alpine Auto Detailing, and Prudential Team Realty. “The reason the car show is such a successful fundraiser for the Museum every year is because we have the best sponsors in the world,” says Casey. “They are generous, enormously supportive in so many ways, and we deeply appreciate all they do to make the Coolest Car Show in Colorado a financial and entertaining success.”
